Both John and Tina worked within the travel industry prior to founding the business. They took the company from a single office in Pocono Lake, Pennsylvania to a nationally known corporation with 10 locations spread across four states. Tina Dowd co-founded Sundance Vacations in 1991 with her husband John. In her 20 years with the company, Tina grew Sundance Vacations from a small start-up telemarketing office to a leading provider of affordable vacations in the United States, Mexico, and the Caribbean. Tina’s award winning vision has guided the growth of the company straight to the Inc. 500/5000 Fastest Growing Companies List.
Marvin, CPA, MBA, began his career with Sundance Vacations in 2001 and served as CFO until 2014 when he was promoted to COO. Marvin has extensive financial experience in the hospitality and leisure industries along with manufacturing, healthcare and banking. Prior to working at Sundance Vacations, he was with Tenenbaum’s Travel where he first was a Controller and then later was appointed to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) position. Under Marvin’s direction, the wholesale division grew to be one of the largest suppliers for Disney, USAir, and Hertz Rent-a-Car.
Joe is a veteran of the travel industry and has been with Sundance Vacations since 1997. He oversees the company’s entire marketing services function and works closely with team leads to develop and successfully execute client acquisition programs. Experience in both finance and education allows him to provide his team with the strategic and tactical direction needed to achieve goals, such as increased sales and stronger brand awareness. Joe is always developing predictive analytics for marketing campaigns and has been fascinated by the power and impact of data in shaping consumer behavior his entire career.
Michael Calnon, General Manager of Sales
Mike uses his experience in education and management to oversee the entire sales force for Sundance Vacations. In this role, he is responsible for training the sales force on current strategies to increase productivity as well as motivating them to excel in their roles within the company. Mike was the winner of multiple Company Salesman of the Year Awards and a National Silver Stevie Award for individual sales. Additionally, he has been the top sales presenter in the company every year since he started in 2009.
SuAnn, MBA, MEng, has over 15 years experience as a Technology Leader. She provides vision and strategic leadership to the executive team in the area of Technology in order to improve the customer experience. Prior to working at Sundance Vacations, she worked for Lockheed Martin and IBM where she led IT teams to execute on projects that contributed to protecting our nation. SuAnn also has certifications in Six Sigma, Security+ and Program Management.
Scott manages the permission marketing division for Sundance Vacations. He is responsible for developing partnerships with national organizations such as Live Nation, the Philadelphia Flyers, Six Flags Corporation and Susan G. Komen Organization. Scott’s military service as a Captain in the United States Army, with multiple tours overseas, allows him to keep the company running with an organized focus that is second to none.
Ron was named Controller for Sundance Vacations in 2004. In this role he is responsible for budgeting, business continuity planning and administrative oversight for the company. Ron brings over 15 years of banking and financial experience to the table and continues to develop and revolutionize ways to improve processes and top line revenue.
Candy is responsible for driving the overall product strategy, roadmap, marketing programs and communications. Candy has been with the company for over 20 years and has worked in various departments, giving her the unique ability to develop programs and procedures which benefit the entire organization. She is passionate about bringing superior results to clients with a relentless focus on quality.
Tommy is a seasoned professional with experience in a variety of industries. He utilizes his 20-plus years of experience to manage and develop staff, create process-innovation solutions and contribute to problem resolution for Sundance Vacations. Valerie is a seasoned B2B and B2C digital marketing professional who is responsible for executing all of Sundance Vacations unique integrated online communications programs. In her role, she oversees the development and implementation of support materials and services for marketing, communications and public relations needs. As director, she manages the efforts of the social media team and coordinates at strategic and tactical levels with the other functions of the company. Valerie uses her expertise in content creation, lead nurturing and digital marketing to achieve Sundance Vacations’ goals of increasing brand awareness, thought leadership and demand generation.
With more than 18-years experience, he is responsible for ensuring that new technologies will integrate and work within our current systems. Additionally, he will be responsible for ensuring that our internal software development lifecycle is being managed with effective tools and the software that is deployed meets the identified business needs. Shawn’s knowledge of the architecture and experience in software development will be a strength to this position. Shawn also volunteers on the McCann School of Business Advisory Board.
Ed has been with Sundance Vacations since 1997, beginning as a sales associate, and eventually being promoted to Sales Director in the New Jersey Market. Since his arrival at Headquarters, in the Wilkes-Barre location, Ed has taken on a wide variety of roles, including leading the New Client Services team and assisting the Permission Marketing department. Ed currently heads up both the Client Resolution department, which was honored with the 2014 Gold Stevie Award for Customer Service Team of the Year and the New Client Services Team which is a Stevie Award Nominee for 2016
With over a decade of combined IT and management experience, Gene brings enthusiasm and creativity to the IT department. He provides tactical management, administration and leadership across project teams and continuously works in partnership with business and technical stakeholders throughout the company. Gene has a Bachelor’s of Science in Software development and is responsible for technology projects of varying size and complexity, with a focus specifically on software projects.
Denise brings 20 years of experience and a profound passion for the work she does at Sundance Vacations. She has been with the company as it grew from a small business to one of the fastest growing travel companies in the Nation. Denise has held many positions in the company and this experience allows her to bring that depth of knowledge to her current role of General Manager. During her tenure with Sundance, her objective has always been to inspire and develop individuals to their highest potential by motivating, influencing and empowering them to successfully achieve their goals.
Christina has 20-plus years of experience with Sundance Vacations. She has worked in a variety of roles and has an amazing understanding of what it takes to make the company run smoothly. Christina has been promoted multiple times and in her current leadership role, she oversees the quality assurance team and the senior telephone service representatives that handle incoming calls. Christina is responsible for making sure that our traveler’s needs are met before, during and after sale of our vacation services. She is also in charge of providing everything that potential travelers may need before attending one of our multi-media presentations. Christina works hard and leads her team by example, ensuring that our team performs at the highest standard.
