Sundance Vacations Corporate Headquarters Celebrates Grand Opening

Wilkes-Barre, Pa (June 3, 2008) Sundance Vacations will celebrate the grand opening of their new location with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, June 13, 2008 at 264 Highland Park Boulevard, Wilkes-Barre, Pa 18702. Sundance Vacations President John Dowd will officiate the ceremonial ribbon cutting with Mayor Carl Kuren and many others.

The building was purchased from the Girard Estate on November 7th, 2007. It formerly housed The Pa Department of Labor and Industry-Disability Determination Bureau. It was vacant for approximately two years prior to the purchase. Sundance Vacations operated out of temporary space in the building while their sales location and company headquarters were constructed. Champion Builders of Pringle managed the million-dollar renovation. The building has been renamed The Arena Commons.

Sundance Vacations will be the first tenant to occupy the building. The vacation company, headquartered in Wilkes-Barre, grew from a small home-based business in 1991 to a national conglomerate. “I remember our initial effort to lease office space on Kidder Street,” recalled founder Tina Dowd. “We were turned away because we were too new and too small. We are now the proud owners of that building,” explained Mrs. Dowd.

The Arena Commons building is the Dowd’s second commercial investment in the area. The renovated building will house their corporate office, one of five marketing offices, and a new sales office, leaving 30,000 sq. ft. for lease.

The Highland Park area, where the Arena Commons is located is just adjacent to the Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza. Sundance Vacations is a proud sponsor of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers in addition to many other events held at the arena.
