John was born in Sunbury, Pa. He attended Shikellamy High School and went on to study engineering at Penn State. Even as a young boy of 14 he was ambitious. He held two newspaper routes and a lawn mowing contract with the city of Sunbury. He met his wife Tina in 1988. They have 3 daughters. He has been both a soccer and basketball coach. His interests include traveling (betcha’ couldn’t guess that), NASCAR racing, Penn State Football and golf. More...

Tina Dowd co-founded Sundance Vacations in 1991 with her partner and husband John Dowd. Shane Lewis is 30 years old and resides in Pennsylvania. Shane was recently promoted from the King of Prussia Sales Director to Assistant VP of Sales for Sundance Vacations. Shane first started with Sundance Vacations in 2003. He has since been promoted three times. Shane has received the “Volunteer of the Year” Award.

I’ve been an administrative assistant for some 30+ years and still find the position to be challenging and rewarding.

Joe was born in Nanticoke, PA, many more years ago than he would like to count. His parents, Joe and Anita, were a high school teacher and a state employee who doubled as a union executive. From them, he developed his skill for following the rules and his ability to negotiate. His family then moved to Central Pennsylvania, specifically Selinsgrove. Here is where he grew into a “brainy jock,” being that he was a three-sport athlete, basketball, football, and track, and was a class officer and active member of the National Honor Society.

Candy Bednar, VP of Business Development, began her own professional development with Sundance Vacations when she started her career as a telemarketer in May of 1993. She stumbled upon the company when set out to look for a part-time summer job. After three months as a telemarketer, she left the company and returned to college to finish her final semester and to complete her student teaching requirements. Candy earned a BS degree in Education from Bloomsburg University, with a minor in Social Studies and a concentration in Sociology.

Sandra Shannon is the Assistant Manager of the New Client Services Department. She is 35 years old, married for 12 years, and the mother of two children; Taylor, 8 and Ryan, 3. She has been a loyal employee for John and Tina Dowd for over 14 years. When she first joined the company, she was an outbound marketer.

Christina Allen graduated from Meyer’s High School in 1991. Not looking for any particular career path, she stumbled upon a classified ad that read, “Appointment Setters needed.” Thinking this would be the perfect summer job she happily joined the Sundance Vacations team. Right from the beginning, she was interested in learning more about the company and hoped that she could grow alongside of the business. Her first position was as a part time marketer.
